My name is Scooter Scudieri. I am an artist and a risk taker. For more than three decades in the music industry, I never quit my day job. I was known as the house painter from WV that opened for Joan Jett, Nils Lofgren, Blind Melon, Widespread Panic, Dream Theater, and Dave Matthews. The house painter that toured with Jewel and Jason Mraz. The house painter that argued on Capitol Hill for artists’ rights during MGM v. Grokster and had his sworn testimony written into the Congressional Record. The house painter that received the Best of the New Writers Award by the Songwriters Hall of Fame and performed on Mountain Stage. The house painter who was featured in Billboard Magazine for his university lecture series on how the internet would deconstruct the music industry. I evolved into a sort of poster boy for the digital revolution… all without an agent, manager, or record company.
I never gave up. I just got crushed.
In the long run, the soul-sucking business side of the industry, the fight for artists’ rights, the pay-to-play reality of live concerts, the daily grind of painting houses, and my headstrong DIY attitude cost me some commercial success and sidetracked me from the joys of life that make me who I am:the music, the art, the process of creation.
With the support of my fans and the love of my wife and child, I found my way back to the music. My family grounds me in every way. Their belief in me never wavered, even when I struggled to believe in myself. They’ve been my constant source of strength, helping me rediscover the passion. That spark of creativity!
I’ve publicly documented a first-of-its-kind creative process: a long-horizon project supported by a proprietary AI continuity system I designed inside ChatGPT. The system does not write, compose, perform, arrange, or alter the music. No generative AI was used to create these songs. The technology exists solely to preserve continuity, protect authorship, and support the long arc of human work.
